The main decoration of Rakhivschina is that it is here, near the village of Delovoe - the geographical center of continental Europe.
In 1885-87, geographers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire conducted geodetic surveys in Transcarpathia to build a railroad from Rakhov to Sighet. Then it was found out that the center of Europe can be located in the Upper Triisson basin. Scientists from the Vienna Imperial-Royal Military Geographic Institute after careful study determined the location of the supposed geographical center of Europe, and in 1887 a historical sign with a stone was established.
This alone could distinguish our region from others on the European continent. From the depth of centuries, being at the crossroads of European roads, our Slavic land echoed history, culture, spirituality and destiny with the whole world and at the same time it was never lost in it.
We are really in the center of Europe: some hour and a half from Kiev (500 kilometers) or Prague (900 kilometers), 380 kilometers from Budapest and 600 from Vienna, 1640 to Bonn, 1500 to Moscow, 1730 to Geneva, 1850 - to Rome.
Both way distance is 160 km.
